Help Us Help You

While many Pennsylvanians will see a hike in their electric bill Hoovserville residents don't have to worry about that.  Due to good fiscal planning over the last decade by the council, our electric rates will remain the same.

Even better, the Hooversville Borough Council was informed by AMP, the co-op from which we buy our power, about a program that will help save the community money.  Approximately 3-4 times a year, we hit 2 hour "windows" where electrical demand is very high.  This may be because temperatures are very high or very low, or due to other factors.  AMP gives us about a 24-hour notice that these "windows" will be occuring.

If the town, as a whole, could reduce their energy consumption during that time, the borough would receive a slight decrease (about 1%) in wholesale electric rates for the next year. As a council, we would like to take these savings and give back to the community by hositng a community day where we would provide food and activites for the entire family.  This would be a day where we could gather and perhaps have a fish-o-rama, carnival games or other activities.

Since AMP can only give us a few hour notice, we will be posting an alert on the sign at the Firemen's Grove asking everyone to reduce power consumption for each upcoming 2 hour period.  When you see that notice, we are asking that you delay running your dishwasher, washer, dryer, etc. during that time.  By working together as a community, we would like everyone to reap the benefits.
